Tierra Santa (Holy Land) is the first religious theme park in Latin America; it opened in Buenos Aires (Argentina) in 1999, when Pope Francis was the archbishop of the city. It offers an unique mix of religious reverence and kitschy entertainment.
Tierra Santa reproduces the streets of the old city of Jerusalem and all staff wear ancient roman style clothes. Visitors walk around discovering statues and actors recreating scenes from Jesus’ life and the Bible and the main attraction of the amusement park is a 60 feet high statue of Jesus Christ that rises every hour from a plaster mountain while music plays Hallelujah.
