Kate is a lead photo editor at The Wall Street Journal and the former photo director for BuzzFeed News. With over a decade of experience as a visual journalist, she currently specializes in reporting on Latin America, Asia, and the environment. Kate loves telling compelling stories on tricky topics. Some favorites include gun violence in America, the management of the Colorado River, carbon credits in Peru, and mining efforts in Brazil. It’s not all serious though — she’s edited viral stories about sheet cakes, conceptualized photos about sex tricks, and led daily celebrity shoots for over 2 years. Kate has been lucky enough to collaborate on articles that have won the George Polk Award, The Livingston Award, The National Magazine Award, and the Pulitzer Prize.  Her work has been recognized by the Society of Publication Designers, American Photography, The National Press Photographers Association, and the Peabody Award, among others. Previously, she worked for ABC News and the New York Post.
