The Aqualillies are an underwater dance company that has merged the art of ballet with the athleticism of synchronized swimming. Some of the Aqualillies are former competitive swimmers that have learned how to dance, and others are professional dancers that have learned how to swim. They began giving synchronized swimming fitness workshops and performing in pools at private events in Hollywood and since then have now expanded into groups across the United States. The Aqualillies' performances invoke the glamour and nostalgic innocence of old Hollywood and Esther Williams, who first brought synchronized swimming to the big screen. Yet the women of the Aqualillies are not all your typical Hollywood actress types. Many hold down day jobs that range anywhere from law and finance to snowboarding instruction and fashion design.
