Robert McPherson (b.1982) is based in Norway. He freelanced for Norway`s Aftenposten National newspaper from 2011-2016. For Aftenposten newspaper he covered features, sports, news, portraiture and culture. In 2014 he also freelanced for the newspaper Dagens Næringsliv. His main client Internationally was Sipa Press. After a few years with freelancing for newspapers and other clients he decided to spend most of his time with personal longterm documentary projects.  


Robert McPherson was a winner at Photoplacegallery 2020 in Vermont, USA for his image about Covid-19. He became a winner for the PX3 photography contest in category "general news" Paris 2016, with his story from the earthquake that struck Nepal. He was also a winner in PX3 for the category "Press, travel, tourism" with his story about Dukha nomads in Mongolia. He became a finalist in the Jacob Riis Documentary Awards 2016 for his work about illegal child labour in Nepal. He was nominated finalist for the Sienna International Photography Awards 2016. He was a winner of the international travel photography contest World In Focus 2015 by PDN. For the World In Focus contest he was selected as a category winner for his photo essay of Dukha nomads from Mongolia. He was also awarded Official Selection in documentary projects by the International Continent Photography Awards 2014 for his work about Kazakh nomads in Mongolia. He received 3rd place for the Picture Of The Year Awards in Norway 2013. He received two honorable mentions for his documentary work at the annual IPA Photography Awards 2014.  His work has also been published online at National Geographic in relation to their annual photography contest 2014. 

Robert studied for a Bachelor of Communications at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia. For his bachelor degree he completed a double major in film and photography. In 2006 he graduated with an honors degree focusing on documentary photography.
