About

Roxana Pop (b. 1989) is a Romanian Fulbright student who recently graduated with an MA in Journalism from the University of Missouri. In 2012 she came to the United States to develop her visual storytelling and documentary skills, and to explore a culture very different from her own.
With the support of a Waller Fellowship Grant for Investigative Journalism, Pop returned to her home country in 2013 to work on a project about the Rosia Montana gold mine. Roxana is drawn to documentary photography and plans to dedicate her time to photographing unique communities. Her master project was about Chautauqua gated community in up-state New York.

After she graduated, January - June 2015, she lived in Norfolk, Virginia assisting the award-winning documentary photographer Matt Eich, and developed her own vision in photography. The internship with Matt Eich was followed by another Chautauqua summer, where she taught photography workshops, had a personal photography exhibition "Chautauqua Dreamworld" and photographed for AARP | Instagram.

As The Fulbright Scholarship ended, Roxana now moved back to her home country Romania, launching her career as freelance photographer, applying her visual-storytelling skills to bring up to light the under-reported stories in her country.

Roxana is currently based in Medias, Sibiu county, Romania. She is available for assignments anywhere in Romania and the neighboring countries: Hungary, Serbia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Moldova, and the Black Sea region
