About

Sara Naomi Lewkowicz is a documentary photojournalist currently studying visual communications at Ohio University in Athens. She is a graduate of the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of North Carolina, and a native of New York City. Her work has been published by, amongst others, the Baltimore Sun, Patuxent Publishing Company, The Annapolis Capital, and Inside Lacrosse Magazine. She has shot assignments from her bedroom window, and traveled as far as mountain villages in Ecuador for others. She has also shot assignments for various non-profits and NGOs, covering topics ranging from immigration to poverty to childhood disease.

Sara also takes great pleasure in photographing weddings, and is available to shoot weddings in the Ohio, as well as in New York City. She is also willing to travel for destination weddings (and would love the opportunity to!)

Sara is a true New Yorker at heart, yet also considers herself to be a Carolina Girl. She loves bagels and lox, but finds pulled pork (“barbeque”) and pecan pie equally tasty.  She gets misty-eyed every time she hears James Taylor’s “Carolina In My Mind,” and swells with pride when she listens to Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind.” She loves the Tar Heels and the Yankees, knows that she will be resented for both allegiances, but accepts the fact that haters will, indeed, hate.

When she is not out capturing people’s souls, she enjoys yoga, making pita and falafel from scratch, quoting the Big Lebowski at inappropriate times, and hating the Blue Devils.
