Summary
This photo series documents public mourning in Tehran following the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on May 19, 2024. It includes scenes from the street funeral procession, banners, and gatherings of mourners in the city’s public spaces.
In the following days, funeral processions and public memorials took place in the streets of Tehran. Large crowds participated in the official funeral ceremony, which passed through central parts of the city. Alongside this, banners, black flags, and religious symbols were set up by supporters and segments of the public in neighborhoods, public squares, and near state institutions.
