Yannis Karpouzis was born in Athens on the 6th of June, 1984. At the age of 18 he succeeded to the National Technical University of Athens where he obtained his Diploma. During 2006, he moved for six months in Copenhagen where he got involved with the work of Danish experimental film-maker, Walter Anversen. Yannis elaborated his diploma thesis investigating the role of modern photography and cinema in the history of art. In 2009, he was selected to study in the Postgraduate Program "New Media - Digital Arts†of the Athens School of Fine Arts (8,43/10). He studied photography (four years) next to the photographers Nikos Dimolitsas (Greek Opera House) and Manolis Babousis (Athens School of Fine Arts). In 2012 he attended as a recipient of full scholarship (Faliro House Productions) the "New School of Athens†film workshop, organized by the, awarded, film maker Athena Tsangari. In 2014 he entered (ranked 1st) the Athens Architecture School "spatial theory" Postgraduate Program and in June of 2015 he received the Discrubrimentos prize (Photoespagna).
He gives lectures on the aspects of Modern and Contemporary photography in the cultural union "Aneresisâ€. During 2016 he does supplementary teaching in the Athens Architecture school for the course, Museum Without Walls next to the artist professor Vana Xenou. He has worked, among others, for the French newspaper Le Monde. His work has been presented in:
