Transform your cyanotype prints beyond the traditional Prussian blue using plants growing in your own backyard and local wilderness areas. Join artist ANNA LEIGH CLEM to learn the fundamentals of toning cyanotypes with botanicals. On day one, participants will learn about digital negatives; paper types that work best for toning; and coating, sun printing, and developing techniques to achieve a wide tonal range. We will go through the process from start to finish to make prints that you will be able to tone. On day two, we will whip up some wild brews, steep your prints, and discuss various options and techniques. Our discussions will cover plant harvesting and processing, best practices for steeping and washing prints, and the different colors and effects that are possible by varying temperature, ph level, and other chemical-based alterations.
