On May 14, 2011, Haitians elected a well known singer named Michel Joseph Martelly as President. A couple of years after he got elected, his detractors claimed that Michel Joseph Martelly failed in his mission make significant changes in the country. Afterwards, there was an outcry for his resignation. The battle for his resignation lasted four years. In february 7th, 2016 this eventually led to President Michel Joseph Martelly relinquishing under extreme pressure, the presidency to Senator Jocelerme Privet, who was the President of the Senate at the time. Jocelerme Privert was elected interim president by the Parliament after signing an agreement with president Martelly to organize the presidential election in the country and until now the country has not an elected president.
