It’s odd how often we take for granted our roots to what has made us all of what we are today. For example, for many years I believed that my first interaction with photography as I know today was at 14 years old.
However, that is not the case.
Recently, I was lucky to find prints of photos I had taken with a disposable camera at about 8 years old. I had completely forgotten about taking these photos and finding them brought back to life my memory of those moments.
The photos might not have been taken for any purpose other than being things I found interesting at the time. They aren’t anything special.
But, what fascinates me about these photos is how similar their style and composition are to my own photography today. It’s even more incredible if we consider that I had no knowledge in photography at 8 years old.
In a way, these photos are proof that I’ve always had a deep liking for photography. It’s the art that unconsciously I’ve always had within me.
They are a part of my roots.
Es extraño lo a menudo que damos por hecho nuestras raíces de lo que nos ha hecho todo lo que somos hoy en día. Por ejemplo, por muchos años creía que mi primer interacción con la fotografía como hoy la conozco fue a mis 14 años.
Sin embargo, ese no es el caso.
Recientemente, tuve la fortuna de encontrar impresiones de fotos que había tomado con una cámara desechable cuando tenia 8 años. Había olvidado por completo haber tomado esas fotos y encontrarlas trajo devuelta a la vida mi memoria de esos momentos.
Quizá las fotos fueron tomadas con ningún propósito mas que el ser cosas que se me hicieron interesantes en ese tiempo. No tienen algo en especial.
Lo que me fascina de las fotos es lo similar que son su estilo y composición al de mi propia fotografía actual. Es aún más increíble si consideramos que no tenia conocimientos en fotografía a los 8 años.
De una forma, estas fotos son prueba de que siempre he tenido un aprecio profundo por la fotografía. Es el arte que inconscientemente siempre he tenido dentro de mí.
Son una parte de mis raíces.
