Alec Jacobson is a photographer and writer based in Vancouver, British Columbia, who likes to dive deep into slow-moving stories.  Drawing on his studies in Anthropology, French and Arabic at Amherst College, he prefers to be the only journalist within a few hundred miles.

He is a National Geographic Explorer and has received two grants from the National Geographic Society - in 2015 and 2018 - to document fishing issues on Lake Victoria.  He is just as comfortable working on a small boat in a big storm as he is sipping fine scotch while shooting for The Macallan.  His archive is represented by Redux Pictures and his writing is represented by Curtis Brown, Ltd.

Alec is prepared to travel at a moment's notice and eager to build on his base of seven languages (French, Spanish, Arabic, English, Luganda, Latin and Ancient Greek).

He also founded and is on the board of the nonprofit Mountain Independent, leading a network of journalists in mountain towns around the world.
