I am an upcoming young documentary photographer based in Uganda. I graduated with a BSc. in Population Studies at School of Statistics and Applied Economics, College of Business and Management Sciences (COBAMS), Makerere University in 2018. My interest in photography was rekindled mid-2019 in a bid to revitalize my reading habit. It came to my attention that photography had a lot to read about and unlike a novel you read and enjoy, with photography literature, you read and go ahead and put in practice. Photography literature enabled me to begin my journey as a self-taught photographer which has also led to personal development in the long run since photography is a medium of expressing oneself and relating with the world around you.

In addition to photography, I am an entrepreneur and a tennis coach. I enjoy reading, camping, playing lawn tennis, cooking, watching movies & documentaries and meeting new people. My interest in documentary photography and visual story telling was realized through a one month’s UPPA workshop on visual story telling during the COVID-19 Lockdown in June 2020. Great thanks to Will Boase, Anna Kucma and Stella Nantongo who went against the odds to have this possible even amidst the lockdown.

I believe experiences gained through reading, participating the UPPA visual story telling workshop and taking part in the Young Photographers Award 2020 will be useful to develop my newly found passion in documentary photography; becoming a better visual story teller and have an opportunity to document and tell stories in my community.
