Summary
This short visual essay documents the day in the life of Greta, an Armenian woman who moved to the US, and created a garden where she could find a sense of belonging. This essay is a reflection on the ways in which immigrants can reconnect with their hometown from afar, and invite other immigrants to engage, connect and heal.

In 1988, 60.000 people were killed in Armenia by an earthquake. Greta was 7 at that age and saw how the earth swallowed buildings and people. Shortly after that, the war came, and Greta and her family were displaced.

Greta moved to the USA 15 years ago but it wasn't until a couple of years ago that she bought a house in Yarmouth with her husband and two kids, a place where she could finally feel home.

During Covid, her Armenian grandfather died. As an impulse she bought 1,500 daffodils and dug the ground by hand - leaving behind a crooked shovel and a token for her grandfather. What she didn't realize was that through that gritty act she would uncover a love and passion for growing flowers - healing her fear for the earth.

Today, she dreams about a space where she can invite other immigrant women to her garden and provide them a space where they could heal their own paths.
