Alicia Vera is a documentary and editorial photographer based between Mexico City and Miami, FL.
While her photography covers a variety of topics—from a years-long project focusing on a sex worker in Miami to indigenous basketball players in the Sierra Norte of Oaxaca—the throughline connecting all her work are stories of culture and community. Through her visual storytelling, she hopes to bring an audience into another person’s reality that they might not otherwise see. With a deep conviction that visuals strongly shape our world, her goal is to use imagery to cultivate understanding and empathy, ultimately encouraging human connection.
Alicia’s clients include National Geographic, The New York Times, The Washington Post and NPR. She is a member of Women Photograph, Diversify Photo and is a 2018 IWMF Fellow.
