Bangkok Protests Turn Violent Over Mishandling Of Covid-19

Bangkok, Thailand - Pro-democracy protests have ramped up in a major way, with almost daily demonstrations and rallies. Comprised primarily of youth groups like REDEM, WeVo, Free Youth Group, and Thalufa, some have become violent, preferring frequent clashes with police over the more traditional style of speeches and symbolism. This has led to the frequent use of tear gas and rubber bullets by police, and slingshots and homemade firecrackers and cherry bombs by protestors. However, there is also a growing sentiment that peaceful protest is needed, and for now the two sides remain united only over their desire to see the resignation of Thai Prime Minister, Prayuth Chan-Ocha, due to his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, corruption within government and the on-going dissatisfaction with the quasi-democratic state of things.
