On March 28, 2025, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar. Across the border in neighbouring Thailand, the tremors caused high-rise condominiums to sway and buildings throughout the region to rattle. The focal point of the disaster was a building under construction that collapsed during the quake, trapping more than 100 workers beneath the rubble. A massive rescue effort unfolded in the following days, bringing together military personnel, police, K9 units, government officials, medical teams, and local volunteers. Working around the clock, they combed through the debris to find survivors. Despite their tireless efforts and the recovery of dozens of bodies, no one was found alive. One worker was initially reported to be showing signs of life, but tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly after being located and extracted. WALL STREET JOURNAL
