Little Whale’s four-track debut is a calming voyage into ambient electronica, one that could only have come from a collaboration between three great talents of the Indian alternative music scene. Singer/songwriter Ankur Tewari, tabla fusion maestro Karsh Kale and electronic music producer Gaurav Raina of Midival Punditz experiment with dreamy, ethereal sounds. Tewari suggests haunting, nearly wordless melodies, while Raina and Kale settle into soothing textures, bell-like tones and occasional beats on songs like “Whale Boy”.
