About
Â

Antonio Pulgarin is a documentary fine art photographer based in Brooklyn, New York. His photographs are informed by his distinct connections to both American and Latino culture. Pulgarin’s photographic style is comprised of two distinct approaches: his environmental portraits and still lifes focus on the lives of subjects from communities often overlooked by mainstream media. His work in studio examines the concept of cultural identity within the context of Latin American culture by isolating both subjects and objects associated with the photographers past. Pulgarin's choices photographically are always deeply personal. He uses photographs to ask questions, rather than to attempt to supply answers.  Ultimately his work leaves his audience to experience their own sense of discovery and loss as they view his images. In the end, his photographs are a celebration of his subjects and culture.

Award-Winning Photographer Antonio Pulgarin trained at the School of Visual Arts and has been shown in the Brooklyn Museum, Daniel Cooney Fine Art Gallery, Marguiles Gallery, Visual Arts Gallery and the Powerhouse Arena. His work has been recognized with honors from the as Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, AI-AP Latin American Fotografia 2 ,American Photography 30, and PDN Photo Annual 2014.
