It’s quite incredible to be able to include, for the coming year, the @insidenatgeo in my posts in the condition of a 2023 National Geographic Explorer. Thanks to an Explorer Grant from the National Geographic Society I’ll be working on a project about the Tijuca National Forest, in Rio de Janeiro, such a strong presence in my life while growing up in the city and a remarkable and foresighted example of the use of nature to fight an environmental crisis.
Getting here would have been impossible without incredible help from Sabine Meyer, Elizabeth Krist, David Lee and Margot Klingsporn. I can’t exaggerate my gratitude to them and to the Society for this fantastic opportunity.
