Alexandre Bagdassarian is a photographer of French-Armenian origin, born in 1992, who studied at ENSAD (École Nationale Supérieure des arts décoratifs de Paris).
His first feature-length documentary, "Les Naufragés" (2013-2017), was dedicated to the Atacama Desert in northern Chile. A collection of images with a suspended temporality, focusing as much on the social reality of the place as on the symbolism of the desert. With "The Color of the Pomegranate" (2022-2023), he seeks to show the scars of Armenian youth caused by 30 years of conflict with Azerbaijan, and the vestiges of a war they never knew, the intergenerational memory of a genocide.
Alongside his personal work, Alexandre Bagdassarian regularly collaborates with the press, for whom he produces commissioned portraits and reports (Libération, Mediapart, Le Particulier, Le Monde, The Guardian uk, etc.), as well as with institutions and NGOs (Croix-Rouge, Fondation Mérieux, Institut Aspen and Greenpeace).Regularly exhibited and published, his personal work has recently been shown as part of the Prix Maison Blanche de la Photographie Contemporaine (Marseille), at the Centre Photographique le bleu du Ciel (Lyon), and at Boutographies (Montpellier).
