The last ten years of her life, of the 103 that she lived, I was very close to her. That's why she got used to my camera, having it so close to her and pretending it wasn't there. That closeness allowed me to get to know her at a deeper level and to be able to present her as another woman, another grandmother, everyone's grandmother, absence of time or a specific place.
In this photography series Delfina is any grandmother, fragile but strong. She has weak eyesight, crooked hands, numbered teeth and the layers of many wrinkles. She is surrounded by grandchildren's games, laughter and noise. We know that any day her eyes would remain closed forever, with a tired body for having had living so much life. The paper memories will remain: photographs and yellowed letters saved for so long.
