This weekend several hundred people gathered in Island Park at a public hearing to speak out against a proposed development of the pristine Henry's Lake Flats, adjacent to Yellowstone Park. Developer, Kevin Button, from Wyoming bought the 430-acre parcel of land and wanted to build luxury housing and an airport for its inhabitants.

The commissioners voted unanimously against the proposal, partially in response to the remarkable public outcry.

Fremont County, where Island Park (population 200-ish) is located, is a news desert- with not a single newspaper.
