Envisaging Mozambique is a photo essay that celebrates the spirit, children, and culture of Mozambique. Shot during a three-week trip to Maputo and Namaacha, I had the chance to volunteer with a group from my university during the summer of 2014. Although there were a few challenges that we faced during the trip, the resilient spirit and joy of the Mozambican people made the trip a wonderful experience, highlighted by coming alongside the locals to promote well being and care for children, the strenthening of personal relationships, and a chance to learn about a new culture. My hope was to capture the essence of the children and the beauty of the country, a place that I hope to visit again someday, revisiting friends and places, and celebrating a proud and resilient culture and people.
