So honored to be featured in Lenscratch today. Thank you, Julia Bennet, for this great article and thanks to Aline Smithson for featuring my work in Lenscratch. Water issues in Florida and across the country (and the world too) are so critical right now. I greatly appreciate every opportunity to share what I have learned on my journey to help raise awareness and to hopefully inspire other to take action. Damage to our waterways is occurring at an exponential rate that parallels and is tied to both the climate crisis and exploding population growth. We will need to feed more and more people and agriculture will have to expand to meet these needs. More energy will also be required to support a growing population that is also being exposed to more extreme climate events. The images in my book show what happens when existing traditional agricultural practices are implemented and what is at risk from the race to extract fossil fuels. Florida is a bellwether for the rest of the country. In order to stem this damage, new sustainable sources of energy and ways of farming and living are critical. Wetlands, mangroves, and open spaces with forests and plants are our allies in adapting to sea level rise and sequestering carbon. The book also celebrates these natural areas and is a call to preserve them before it is too late. Thanks to everyone at Lenscratch for your support and of course thank you to all the water advocates, scientists and other individuals and groups who so generously gave their time and shared their knowledge with me to help bring this book to fruition.  Here's a link to the article: http://lenscratch.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Alum-Bluff-Apalachicola-River.jpg
