Koral Carballo ( b. Poza Rica, Veracruz, Mexico in 1987) is a photojournalist and visual artist based in Puebla, Mexico. Her investigative work focuses on visual stories related to identity, violence, migration, and territory working at the intersection of art, journalism, history, and anti-patriarchal narrative. 

Her work has been published in Sunday Magazine, Bloomberg News, AFP, The New York Times, The Washington Post, amongst others. Her photographers are part of numerous art collections, including those of Francisco Toledo, Centro de la Imagen, Fundación Televisa and Open Society Foundation.

Koral is a 2021 Catchlight Leadership Fellow, 2021-2 Visura Mentee , 2019 Getty Images grantee, 2019 We Women Grantee, and 2018 Open Society Foundations Moving Walls 25 Fellow. Her work was recognized by POY LATAM (2nd place Nuestra Mirada Award 2021), Woman Photograph, and received first place in the Latin American Photography Colloquium portfolio review 2017.


In 2014, she founded and coproduces the Mirar Distinto International Festival of Journalistic and Documentary Photography in Mexico, alongside a group of Veracruz photojournalists.
