To celebrate the "Juneteenth," Richmond residents gather to honor those who have been killed by police officers and to protest police brutality on June 21, 2020 at Monument Avenue. The monument has been claimed by the community and has become a healing space where parents take photos with their children, play basketball and share a meal on the now proclaimed "Marcus-David Petters Circle". The Robert E. Lee memorial has been renamed in honor of the young Marcus-David Petters, who was shot and killed by a Richmond police officer on May 14, 2018
