Summary
The Olo Project is a celebration of the 130th anniversary of the first occurrence of surfing in mainland United States. In 1885 three Hawaiian princes going to school in California constructed redwood boards from the Santa Cruz mountains and went surfing on these boards at the San Lorenzo River mouth in Santa Cruz. Master shaper Bob Pearson measured and weighed the originals and then made exact replicas from locally milled redwood. Bob also made 13 other wooden boards in original Hawaiian shapes.
