Sonam Choekyi Lama is Nepali Documentary filmmaker, and visual storyteller focusing on climate, conservation, indigenous communities, and women. She co-directed the award-winning feature documentary “The Snow Leopard Sisters” (2024), which premiered at SXSW 2025 and Mountain film, Telluride. Their earlier film, “The Snow Leopard Calling” (2020), received multiple international awards, including from Jackson Wild and IWFF Montana. With a background in multimedia journalism at Nepali Times and Climate Tracker, She have also contributed to exhibitions with the Pulitzer Center, Photo Kathmandu, and British Council. She have received fellowships and grants from the British Council, Women Photograph + Leica, and Climate Tracker. Their work aims to merge environmental justice with deeply rooted local narratives from remote Nepal and the Himalayas.
