Christopher Rubey is a photographer, cinematographer, editor, musician, composer, & landscape architect based in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
Christopher, (also goes by Chris), was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Between 2009-2011 he studied Psychology at the University of Colorado at Boulder, later transferred to the University ofEdinburgh in the UK and graduated with a First Class MA in English Literature. He currently resides between Guaddalajara & San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, working with local and indigenous communities from the jungles of Colombia all the way to reservations of South Dakota. He travels often and works internationally. As a flexible and versatile artist, he shoots photography and video, for almost all areas, from weddings, to documentary & journalism, to commercials, to music videos, to fashion, as well as abstract, graphical, and experimental work. His primary subjects of interest are diverse peoples in diverse situations and locations around the world, their stories, their cultures, as well as the beauty and mysteries of the natural world.
His academic history in literature, psychology, and philosophy informs his sense of aesthetics and narrative. His musical history and affinity (a composer and vocalist who also plays piano and guitar) gives rhythm and life into his productions, giving it dynamic intonations of emotion and energy, or in other words, 'flow'. His freelance work has gained attention with publications and organizations such as National Geographic, Marie Claire, the Royal Photographic Society, amongst others. Chris tells stories, through photos, films, writing, song, and other forms of media. Self-educated, enthusiastic, and determined, Chris is an all-around creative with a unique vision worth sharing.
