Daniel is an award winning freelance photojournalist currently living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He grew up in West Germany, before his family resettled in Canada. He has also spent time living in Australia.
Daniel was introduced to photography at a very young age and got his start in journalism as a volunteer photographer at the University of Winnipeg’s weekly student newspaper, The Uniter. Daniel now works as the Uniter's photo editor on a contract basis. He also freelances full-time, working with a variety of editorial and commercial clients. Currently Daniel is working with community members and Operation Ezra to develop a long term project focused on the Yazidi community in Winnipeg, which is the largest Yazidi population outside Iraq.
Although he has been called a "workaholic" by some, a claim he does not dispute, Daniel tries to find a work life balance when he can, by retreating into the wilderness on hiking, climbing and paddling trips. He is also an avid surfer, but finds it difficult to find good waves on the Canadian prairie.
