Dale Sparage

Dale Sparage is a Photographer and Fine Artist; living in the San Francisco Bay area. She has exhibited extensively throughout the US. Her one-woman show at the Janice Charach Epstein Museum/Gallery, in 2005, "Portraits of Women,” and "Girls in wonderland,” established Sparage as an innovative and compelling Portrait photographer. 

In 2001, sparage was Runner Up in Photo District News Digital Imaging Contest for her Personal work, she completed her BFA with honors from York University in Canada, and an MFA from Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan. She has taught at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, University of Michigan, and The School For Visual Arts at the Toledo Museum of Art.

Her clients include, Metro Detroit Bride magazine, California Homes,

Zan clothing, Karma Yoga Studio, and Shri Life Yoga Studio, in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida 

Sparage currently lives in San Francisco, her current plans include an upcoming exhibit, and plans to release a book of her Portraits of Women project, entitled "Melancholy Beauty,”  she continues to produce, publish and exhibit her portraits and Landscapes.

I am  creating a tribute to women and extending an urgent call to grant full rights and privileges to women of all nations.  In my Portraits of Women Series I explore The relationship between beauty and power, the woman in this image is  unadorned and authentic, her inner and outer beauty shine through yet beneath, lies a feeling of melancholy,  something is not right she is incomplete not yet whole.  

Photography and art in general can be the starting point to instigate change within the world and us.  Art allows the viewer a still quiet place to reflect; this contemplation can transform into action and change can occur."

"Though great progress continues to be made in the area of empowering women there is still much work to be done.  The fight continues for women of all nations to have the right to be responsible for their own bodies and the freedom to be in charge of their lives and their livelihoods.
