Matthieu Dandoy is a French born, Mexico based, photographer and videographer. He started as a video-reporter for  Hi-media Publishing , in Paris, France, in 2009.

He went to live in Venezuela in 2012 and that’s where he started to gain a consciousness of the inequality and misrepresentation of our world. Years later, in 2018, he released a movie about the struggle of the Venezuelan refugees, codirected with the French journalist, Francois-Xavier Freland.

In the meantime, he started working as a photographer, covering various events like the Barranquilla’s carnival, in Colombia. Those pictures were recognized by the festival Les rencontres d’Arles de la photographie, in 2017.

With the growing need to document humanitarian and social justice issues, he joined the Initiative for the Resurgence of the Abolitionist movement, in 2018. NGO led by Mauritanian antislavery activist, and 2013 U.N. human rights award recipient, Biram Dah Abeid.

Later the same year, he covered the Mauritanian presidential elections, where Biram Dah Abeid arrived 2nd.

He now works with abolitionists from around the world, with words, pictures and videos, to raise awareness about slavery in our modern world.
