He began working as a professional photographer in 1993 publishing his work in several Italian and international newspapers (Espresso, Newsweek, Sunday Times, El Pais). Since 1999 he has increasingly turned his attention to his personal projects. In 2001 he completed a project, lasted four years, on the actual monarchist movement in Italy. From 2002 to 2009 he teached photojournalism and photo-reportage at various schools in Rome, such as the Roberto Rossellini State Institute for Cinema and Television in Rome, Officine Fotografiche, Centro Sperimentale Adams. In 2004, he published his first book in black and white ”A Cuban story”, issued by Postcart. This long-term project summarizes an investigation of fifteen years aimed to follow the Cuba’s transformation after the fall of the socialist block in Europe. In 2009 he moved to Rio de Janeiro to follow the Brazilian socio-political events and document how the country was preparing for the arrival of two mega-events such as the FIFA Word Cup and Olympics. From 2011 to 2015 he collaborates assiduously with Le Monde and Die Zeit, for which realises a big number of reportages. In 2012 and 2013 he is called to make a visual documentation of the book “The Rubber Soldier”, issued by “Escrituras Publishing. In 2013 and 2016 he held different workshops and lectures during the International Photography Festival “Paraty em Foco”. From 2013 to 2017 he carries out a photographic research on a big pilgrimage taking place every year in northeast of Brazil for the Feast of Saint Francis. This project will be part of a documentary film about photography and its interaction with contemporary society, produced by Globo News.
