David Sládek is a Czech independent photojournalist living in London and a former reporter for the Czech News Agency. Since moving to London more than a decade and a half ago he has been focusing his photographic work on people, their lives and emotions. In 2017 Sládek self released his first book Unspoken Genocide capturing memories and emotions of survivors of WW2 genocide in the fascist Independent State of Croatia. For several years he has been photographing the phenomenon of British car boot sales, the Serbian community in the UK or ordinary life of people in the Slovak village of Šumiac, known to the world thanks to work of photographer Markéta Luskačová. His most recent long term project focuses on the culture of protest in the UK’s capital London. In the last seven years he has attended well over 200 protests and demonstrations of all sizes and topics, capturing crowds and individuals calling for their rights. He is a keen advocate of black and white and street photography and a co-organiser of Šumiacky Fotofest - festival of photography, art, music and folklore in Šumiac. He is currently studying at Institute of Creative Photography (ITF) in Opava, CZ
