There are studies to show cold water immersion does have health benefits both physically and mentally. It is even beneficial to stand in a cold shower for thirty seconds three times a week. Outdoor swimming in the UK has seen a steady rise over the past five years, with a large increase in new swimmers joining clubs over the pandemic as people noticed the difference it made to their overall wellbeing. It isn’t however just about the swimming. When you join a club, you have the opportunity to meet new people, and travel further afield to find new places to swim. I started taking pictures in the sea about a year ago when I succumbed to the swimming craze. As the sea slowly warms up I will be taking my camera around the UK, for this ongoing swimming project.
