It really is life-changing, diving in the Red Sea, and the experience is always shared. Everywhere you go, the water is aqua blue, crystal clear, and has abundant, beautiful marine life. Visiting up to four sites a day, the most memorable for me was the immense SS Thistlegorm - one of the top ten dive sites in the world - an experience I will never forget! Guides in Egypt are all extremely knowledgeable, sometimes with decades of experience, showing us the tiny yet beautiful - nudibranch, the stone fish, crocodile fish, the octopus, and a sleeping baby white tip shark, amongst so many others.

The diving community in Egypt is thriving, with 220 live-aboard boats, of which 165 are currently active, and 2000+ day boats in the water throughout the diving season, transporting divers from land-based dive and water sports centers to dive sites around the coast of the Red Sea. Standards are extremely high, with the diving industry being closely monitored by Egypt’s Chamber of Diving and Water Sports to ensure the safety of divers and, above all, the preservation of the reef.

I will return. There is so much more to experience, especially seeing hammerhead sharks and giant manta rays.
