I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in November 2021; I started chemotherapy in January 2022. Every sunny day I make a (double-sided) cyanotype on cloth- a set up still life of objects and words, to try to figure out and illustrate my experience. The objects placed on the cloth include animal figures, cubes, chemo tubes, hair, jewelry, glass plate negatives and words on acetate. The deep blue color reminds me of dreams and unconscious thoughts, as well as the blood coursing through my body.
I'm doing very well so far, tolerating the "treatments" and not dwelling on my fears. Art heals, after all.
