I have spent time with a group of Gazan children and their caretakers and joined them on an emergency evacuation by the Italian military. I traveled from Cairo to Rome, then to Pisa with two families in ambulances to a hospital in Bologna, where the children are receiving treatment. These were the most severe cases on the evacuation. Anxiety about their futures follow them.
