Erin Ramirez

Erin Nene-Lee Ramirez (born May 5, 1995) is a filmmaker originally from New Hampshire. He received a BA in Broadcast and Digital Journalism from the University of Southern California where he pursued stories related to arts, culture, and immigration. Since graduation, Erin has worked in Los Angeles for documentary filmmaker, Lisa Leeman, where he helped develop a feature film titled Trans*Formed which received a 2018 Sundance Production Grant and is aimed to be featured on PBS’s POV. The film chronicles the life of a transgender animation artist in Los Angeles 30-years after her gender transition and is a follow up to Leeman's 1990 film, Metamorphosis. Erin is a 2018 IMM Print Youth Reporting Fellow, a 2019 NeXtDoc Fellow and is currently pursuing an MFA in Screenwriting/Directing at Columbia University School of the Arts. His work has garnered Student Academy Award semifinalist recognition, been published on Fusion.net, Annenberg Media, UMass MedNow, exhibited at the LA Municipal Art Gallery, and included in numerous film festivals and awards ceremonies around the country including St. Louis International Film Festival, Middlebury New Filmmakers Film Festival, and Greenwhich International Film Festival. His stories examine current social issues and the commonality of human experience, with a particular focus on unearthing narratives from frequently underrepresented populations in the media.
