Work in progress: Unified

Merriam-Webster defines unified as the state of being brought together as one.
I initially had a difficult time conceptualizing ways to visualize unified. I wanted it to be about the community here in Columbia, but couldn't think of a way we were all unified, or brought together as one, in a visual sense. One idea I had was about the face masks we wear, but those are often divisive and not everybody wears one. So I started to think more abstract.
Going with the idea of something brought together as one, I started thinking about things that were broken and then fixed; things that were separate but then brought together to create one object.
I walked around downtown Columbia looking for places where things intersect and artifacts of broken, now mended objects. I made only vertical pictures to maintain visual consistency and, for now, I plan on keeping the series in color (we'll see if I change my mind in the hour before the final is due).
I want to keep exploring the idea of mended or repaired things. Lots of the details I found downtown were of things brought or secured together, but not mended. Finding mended or repaired things is interesting to me because they are things that were once whole, then broken and brought together again as opposed to things that were simply two separate things, now connected. I am going to try to emphasize newfound "wholeness" in my next shoots in this essay.
