Fatma Fahmy ( b. 1991 ) is an independent visual storyteller from Egypt. Her work focuses on environmental concerns and social issues influenced by factors such as the environment and migration.
She earned her B. A degree in Chemical Engineering from Cairo University in 2013. In 2020, she received a scholarship from the Daniele Tamangi Grant at the Market Photo Workshop, providing her with the opportunity to participate in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography program. As of 2022, she has been working as a contributor to Reuters and other publications for editorial assignments.
She was named one of the African Photographers You Should Know by PhMuseum in 2020 and was one of the shortlisted finalists for the Sony World Photography Award in the Environment category for her ongoing long-term series titled “The Lost Lake “. Her works have been exhibited internationally, spanning Ethiopia, Germany, London, Ivory Coast, France, Jordan, Switzerland, Italy, Morocco, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.
