Felicia Chang is a Chinese-Canadian photographer and settler on the lands of the Coast Salish Peoples in Vancouver, Canada. With a birthplace in Borneo, Malaysia, and raised by her maternal grandmother and aunties, Felicia’s immigrant and motherhood experiences have strongly shaped her current identity. After a decade-long career in mineral exploration and starting a family, she turned to photography to help her better understand the complexity and labor of parenthood. Eventually her stories moved beyond the home and lives of other families, into the field. As a freelance photographer, her commercial clients include Water Wipes, City of Vancouver, local universities and non-profit organizations. Her editorial work has been published in Maclean’s, Chatelaine, CBC, and Photo Life. Her experience as end-of-life photographer at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice and Lions Gate Hospital have inspired personal work that explore moments between life and death, and the people and communities involved in its transition. She is proud to be a member of Diversify Photo and Women Photograph, two collectives that work to address inequities within the photo industry.
