The scars of the narco. Last weekend, almost a thousand inhabitants of the Ermita de los Correa community in Jerez Zacatecas were forced to flee and leave their homes and all their belongings to save themselves from the clashes between the cartels that dispute the area. Gone are their vehicles, their crops, their plants, their dreams, and only desolation remained, shells thrown in the streets, brands of burned vehicles and houses shot as silent testimony to the violence that turned them into a ghost town. Forced displacement is slowly swallowing up the state of Zacatecas, which is at a strategic point for the great drug lords.
