America Seen, a project by Emerson Collective, documents the varied experiences of Americans through the perspectives of diverse photographers, reflecting the America they see.

August 25, 2020. Marshall, AR. ...al found things from our hills.

August 25, 2020. Marshall, AR. My 9 year old daughter holds the corpse of a white luna moth she found while taking a walk down the driveway together. She brought it home to add to her collection of natural found things from our hills.

August 11, 2020. Marshall, AR. ...iends and we are both thankful.

August 11, 2020. Marshall, AR. On most days, our neighbor's little dog Simon comes the 1/4 mile over to our house to visit. We drive him back home in the evening and our kids visit and cause mischief together. Driving Simon back in the evenings has brought us closer as friends and we are both thankful.

August 1, 2020. Marshall, AR. M...aring shoes when we go to town.

August 1, 2020. Marshall, AR. My son Henry found a spricebush swallowtail caterpillar on the ground that we were both sitting and watching together. Around the house and woods he typically runs barefoot, only wearing shoes when we go to town.

August 5, 2020. Kali Brasel and... hills and hollers to buy them.

August 5, 2020. Kali Brasel and her two children check out at Hudson's grocery in Harrison, AR on Banana Day. Every Wednesday is Banana Day where bananas sell for .19c per pound and shoppers come from hills and hollers to buy them.

August 2, 2020. Caulfield, MO. ...h other on many state highways.

August 2, 2020. Caulfield, MO. Carts lie in wait of shoppers outside the Dollar General. DG stores dot the Ozarks, sitting about 10 miles apart from each other on many state highways.

August 22, 2020. Oxley, AR. Cla... he works with them from birth.

August 22, 2020. Oxley, AR. Clair Gorton has raised organic dairy cows all his life. Along with his daughter, he handmilks between 7-12 mama cows twice every day. He also takes the time to get their babies used to being handled and walked through the milking barn so they become gentled from an early age. Anyone who's ever bought a mini jersey cow from Clair is amazed at how easy they are to handle because he works with them from birth.

August 22, 2020. Oxley, AR. Alt...e cream topped gallons locally.

August 22, 2020. Oxley, AR. Althea Hoyt, daughter to Clair Gorton, hand milks one of the 7 organic mini jersey dairy cows that are currently in production on Gramybear farm. They milk at 2am and 2pm and sell the cream topped gallons locally.

August 15, 2020. West Plains, M...artment of Conservation by day.

August 15, 2020. West Plains, MO. Mary Scott checks the eye of one of her yearling sheep that she's just ear tagged. Pink flesh around the eye is an indicator that the sheep is healthy. If it's pale colored, then most likely the sheep has worms and needs dewormer. This particular one is good to go. Mary makes wool products from her flock to sell and is a fisheries biologist for the Missouri Department of Conservation by day.

August 15, 2020. West Plains, MO. Mary Scott tags the ear of one her yearling sheep. It's a way for her to both claim ownership if one gets out of the pasture, and for her to uniquely identify each sheep quickly. 'Littlest Chicken' who was born with a deformed foot, waits for Mary to finish so she can continue to follow her around wherever she goes. Mary makes wool products from her flock to sell and is a fisheries biologist for the Missouri Department of Conservation by day.

July 23, 2020. Marshall, AR. My daughter rides her bike up and down the gravel road with the dogs following close behind.
