This is a project that took place in Onishi, Japan. The project was a study of an acceptance of changes, of loss, grief and impermanence. I spent six weeks in a residency at Shiro Oni Studio in this small rural town learning about Japanese phrases that didn’t have a translatable english equivalent. One of these phrases was mono no aware which is in part about the awareness of impermanence. I worked to develop this series that spoke to this study of understanding this meaning within my own life.
