About

My current practice is sustained by a varied list of commercial clients interwoven with self-initiated fine art and documentary projects. Some ventures have been self-resourced while others assignments have received generous grants. Most recently my visit to Cameroon in West Africa was funded by the Guardian/Royal Photographic Societies Joan Wakelin Bursary.

For me, the world is intensely visual; The driving force behind much of my work is rooted in my own interest and observations concerning community, education and the environment. My portfolio includes images from alternative farming communities in Somerset, Gypsy villages in Romania, and gangland comunities in South Africa.  Whilst each project has own identity, the underlying theme of is fuelled by ongoing research, ideas and a passion for discovery.

The method of recording was acquired while studying Documentary Photography at the University of Wales in Newport.
(Graduating in 2004) It was here that I was introduced to a particular way of working: methodical yet compassionate, technically demanding yet spontaneous, socially aware and always attempting to reveal something of the subject and the nature of photography.

As a photographic practitioner I work in a variety of media, including digital, film and alternative photographic processes each chosen for their unique quality. I strive to maintain integrity and detail an honest visual account of the people I meet and the lives they lead.
