Summary
When she began taking photographs on the streets of Somalia, Fardosa Hussein experienced firsthand the negative treatment women can face when pursuing something creative. But instead of letting that put her off, the Somali Kenyan photographer is using her work to empower not only herself, but the women around her. Fardosa not only aspires to disrupt preconceived narratives about women, but also about Somalia.
