“THE PHOENICIAN COLLAPSE” traces an intimate examination of the complex Lebanese social mosaic for the last 7 years during the unfolding of the worst national economic crises the world has seen in more than 150 years.
I have lived through its collapse, amidst the fears, the ghosts, the echoes of the explosion, the sectarianism, and again the rising then fading hopes during these years through the challenge of raising my son here.
I am no longer an outsider. Photography is personal, life is personal. After all these years, Lebanon is my home and it is demanding that I tell its story.
The Phoenician Collapse is a personal tale of a crisis within a crisis to create a visual testament to the memory of the twilight of a glorious nation.
The book has been curated by the acclaimed photo editor SARAH LEEN, is part of the “Jalón Ángel photography books collection” (USJ), and is produced by FOTOEVIDENCE and the Jalón Ángel Archive (UNIVERSIDAD DE SAN JORGE)
