Join us on Sunday, October 8th at 5 p.m. to talk about the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border.
You can register below (it will be in English):
Since last year, another wall has been running through Europe: Poland has built a 187-kilometer-long border wall with Belarus. Here, people seeking protection are pushed back, their mobile phones destroyed and they are left unprotected and disoriented in the forest. On the Belarusian side, they are often beaten up by soldiers and border guards and end up in the forest again. The people come from Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, and Sudan - they are fleeing war, persecution, hunger, climate disasters, and unlivable conditions in their home countries - all of them have hoped for a better life in Europe.
But what exactly is happening there in Bialowieza, Europe's last primeval forest? What is the daily reality of the people who seek shelter with us while governments distract, cover up, and build walls? And what does this mean for the people who stand up against violence and closure and provide humanitarian aid?
